Tips to navigate Fluke Calibration support

Calibration is the backbone of your work, so when an error crops up, you want to fix it fast. But, finding the right information to make the necessary fixes to your tools or software yourself can sometimes be difficult. The Fluke Calibration Support Team has outlined some useful tips and tricks to get you back up and running quickly.

Tips to navigate Fluke Calibration support

Fixing errors in your calibration software can be quick and simple with the right tips.

Fluke Calibration Website

The Fluke Calibration website houses the most information about products, software, and support. With so much information in one place, it can be hard to find what you’re looking for. There are a few sections that you should check first if you’re looking for self-help support.

Newest software versions

If you have a software issue, before diving too far into your support research, check the software version you’re using. Make sure your products are up to date with the right software and you’re aware of any service or safety notices. The error you’re seeing may be a simple fix from one of these areas.

Fluke Calibration Knowledge Base

Fluke Calibration has built a repository of helpful information that is often a great place to start when looking for calibration support information. The Knowledge Base section of the website is a complete self-service calibration technical support option. It enables you to search for a task or ask fellow FCAL customers for solutions.

If you’re interested in handling your own instrument calibration services and fixing issues as they come up, work carefully and slowly. If you don’t know what to do, or if you can’t find any information: stop, call, get help. It is possible to make a problem worse if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Literature and Education

Fluke Calibration has blog posts on a wide variety of topics. Some are tips and tricks, some touch on support or technical issues, others offer insight into new product innovation. These articles are a direct line to the information in Fluke experts’ heads. Many even include videos and how-to guides. On Fluke Calibration, this section of the website also includes a large amount of information about each type of calibration.

Product pages

Technical specs or additional information on your tools can be found on each Fluke website with detailed information on the products. You can either search through the library of products and software, or search for the specific model number on the site.

MET/SUPPORT Gold

Fluke Calibration offers a membership program for calibration software users called MET/SUPPORT Gold. This gives you access to additional content and a procedures library. You will gain access to a peer-to-peer forum giving you an additional place to receive support from others in the calibration world.

MET/SUPPORT Gold members are also given access to an online form for priority support requests.

Call Fluke Calibration Support

Call or submit a request to speak with an agent (telephone and contact information). It’s helpful to look through the automated calibration support information online before speaking with anyone so that you’re speaking the same language. If you’re not super familiar with the software, or the issue presented, having a good foundation for what’s going on will allow everyone to be on the same page quicker.

If you’re on a call with support, it can be extremely helpful to work through the issues with the software open or your instrument within reach. This way you can explain what you’re seeing as you’re seeing it. It’s easier for support experts to follow along this way. If possible, setting up a video call can help immensely. Giving you screen sharing capabilities to show and walk through the issues you’re experiencing can enable real-time troubleshooting.

If you’re communicating with support through emails, be sure to include as much information, images, or screen shots as possible in order to thoroughly show what you’re seeing.

Write down the error code

Software programs will throw an error code when an issue comes up. Write this code down or take a screen shot of it when you see it.

If you’re looking for self-help information, you can search for this error code on the Knowledge Base, or online. This can help narrow the possible solutions down to the most useful information.

When working with the support team, the error code can help the team understand the issue a little further and help you get to the proper solution.

Take classes

One of the great things about software is that it can be updated continually. This means that there is always new information to learn and updates to keep up with. One of the easiest ways to keep up with changing software is to continue learning and take the opportunity to practice in a safe space. Fluke offers a variety of calibration support classes that can offer you one-on-one time with the experts.

Fluke also offers a variety of self-paced online courses about calibration and metrology.

Use the same tools and applications as the Fluke Calibration support team does

Once you feel comfortable finding online calibration support services, you can use the same tool and applications used by the Fluke Calibration support experts. For both web browsers and computer system information, the calibration team has put together a list of what has proven to be the most useful for their work.

Bonus tip: Call your sales rep first

If the sales representative you worked with to set up your calibration software can’t answer your question, they’re going to know who to ask or who to route you to.
