MEMORANDUM FOR U.S. OWNERS AND OPERATORS USING GPS TO OBTAIN UTC TIME (211.91 KB)
A recent notice from Homeland Security announces a GPS Week Number Rollover Event scheduled for April 6th, 2019. This event will affect the 910 and 910R products that were purchased before 2007.
Dept. of Homeland Security Notice
What will happen?
On this date, at the rollover time, some units will lose date information and display a 1999 date for reporting purposes. Frequency deviation data may not be archived within the unit. This situation will not self-correct with time or power cycling and must be sent to Fluke Service for repair and calibration.
Why is this happening?
Units manufactured through 2006 used a Motorola receiver. This is one of many manufacturers receivers that do not handle the WN parameter reset (for more detail WN parameter see the link above). During 2006 the receiver used on our Fluke models was replaced with a receiver which can adapt to this GPS rollover event (which takes place approximately every 20 years.)
What should I do?
Customers, who have purchased a 910 or 910R more than 12 years ago with serial numbers lower than 932XXX (January 2007) should contact their authorized Fluke Service representative regarding pricing and scheduling for receiver replacement and calibration.
