Now You Can Use MET/CAL™ Software by Itself or With the Asset Management Software of Your Choice

MET/CONNECT Calibration Integration Software

MET/CONNECT, our new calibration management software API, allows you to use MET/CAL software without an asset management application. In other words, you no longer need MET/TEAM Test Equipment Asset Management Software to run MET/CAL if you already use a different asset manager or if an alternative solution better fits your requirements. We’re partnering with other calibration asset management software vendors so you can use MET/CAL as you want to, in a way that fits your workflow.

Does this sound like great news to you? Let’s dive in.

MET/CONNECT Is the Missing Piece of MET/CAL

This year is the thirtieth anniversary of the initial release of MET/CAL. In that time, it’s become the gold standard of calibration automation software. There’s nothing out there that matches the breadth and depth to which MET/CAL is used in the calibration industry.

Until recently, if you wanted to use MET/CAL, you also had to use a Fluke Calibration asset management application, specifically MET/TRACK or MET/TEAM. This requirement didn’t always meet the needs of customers who were using a different asset manager, or those who didn’t need an asset manager.

MET/CONNECT, our new calibration software API framework, is a lightweight alternative to our existing asset management requirements.

One of the primary features of this initial release is the ability to export MET/CAL data to your asset management software of choice. We currently have four partners, and three of them have integrations developed and ready to launch. Those companies are:

  • IndySoft
  • AssetSmart
  • Qualer
  • Metquay

Previously, some of these companies could pull data in from a file and parse it, but now we are providing them with a modern API designed for that purpose. For customers and developers, MET/CONNECT makes importing and parsing data much more reliable and a lot easier to work with.

Of course, MET/TEAM is still a great solution for many customers. It is a comprehensive, browser-based application for managing calibration assets.

And finally, you don’t need to use a metrology asset manager at all if that’s your preference.

What MET/CONNECT Means for the Future of Fluke Calibration Software

This initial MET/CONNECT release is just a first step, and as we move forward in the future, it will grow and become part of more applications.

Perhaps I sound overly proud, but I believe MET/CONNECT is just about the most customer-centric product Fluke Calibration has ever made. It was created from the ground up based strongly on customer inputs. Through numerous phone calls, conferences and visits, we learned about customers’ needs and wants, with a goal to develop solutions that addressed them. As a result of listening to our customers, our software team designed, developed and released MET/CONNECT.

Our vision is to open the possibilities of what you can do with Fluke Calibration software, so you can use it how you want to, and customize it so it fits into your unique workflow. With MET/CONNECT, we are truly taking things in a new direction.

Will MET/TEAM Continue to Receive Support and Updates?

This is where the roadmap for Fluke Calibration software gets really exciting.

MET/TEAM will continue to receive support, updates, and new features. In 2020, we will roll out version 2 of MET/CONNECT, which will include the ability to connect MET/TEAM to other software. In much the same way as MET/CONNECT now allows MET/CAL to talk to your asset management software of choice, with version 2 you’ll be able to use MET/TEAM to communicate with your SAP or accounting system of choice.

Summary

MET/CONNECT is our extensible API framework that lets you use MET/CAL calibration software without an asset manager, or with an asset manager of your choice. MET/CONNECT is the result of listening to customers’ needs and rapidly developing a solution, with more features to come.
