Product overview: Fluke 233/A Remote Display Automotive Digital Multimeter Kit

What would you do if you could be in two places at once?

By simply sliding the wireless display out of the Fluke 233/A’s meter body, the technician can place the display where it is most easily seen—up to 10 meters (33 feet) from the point of measurement—while putting the meter in the best position to take measurements. The removable display has a magnetic back and flat bottom so it can be mounted or placed on any flat surface where it can be conveniently seen. When the display is attached to the meter body the Fluke 233/A operates as a conventional multimeter.

The detachable wireless display lets automotive technicians:

  • Find a comfortable position to view and record test data, even when the test location is hard to reach or in a dirty or noisy environment.
  • Attached test leads to brake lights while sitting in the driver seat, pressing the brake pedal and viewing the display.
  • Safely view underhood measurements on moving vehicles.
  • Separate the tasks of positioning the meter and reading test results, devoting full attention to each job—and working more safely.
  • Run tests and read results at a safe distance from high-voltage, high-current systems. The Fluke 233 is safety rated for use in CAT III 1000 V, CAT IV 600 V working environments, important for technicians working on hybrid vehicles.

Designed by Fluke engineers and manufactured at the Fluke Worldwide headquarters in Everett, Washington, the Fluke 233 is safety rated for use in CAT III 1000 V, CAT IV 600 V working environments. This is important for technicians working on hybrid vehicles, which routinely work with high-voltage, high-current systems not found on conventional vehicles.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Battery drain issues will destroy meter I bought this meter because of the removable screen feature. I noticed early on it would drain batteries when it was powered down (I would use it once every week or 2 weeks and usually every time either meter batteries dead or screen batteries dead). Eventually it got so bad it caused batteries to leak. Now the meter will not read resistance properly, readings jump all over the place (assuming due to battery acid leaking internally into the meter). Voltage functions still ok. I now got in the habbit of removing all 5 batteries after each use. Contacted fluke and said i would need to send it in and have them diagnose it on my dime even though they know there is a issue with this meter drawing batteries down. Now i have a $400 paper weight.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from better have batteries handy great concept and when it works,it does work great.im a professional auto tech of 25 years and this was my first fluke meter.bought it about3-5 years ago when they first came out. main problem is this meter always draws on your batteries.about every other time i go to grab it and use it quick i find myself having to change the batteries again and again.will draw them down so far that i had on leak in the case, this was only maybe 6 months after i started using it.only writing this review because it did to me again and ive had enough.leaving this review wherever i can.contacted fluke years ago about it and nothing was done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trusted Quality-Great Idea Fantastic idea-I use this meter with the i30 low current probe clamp to seek out parasitic draws. Just leave the meter near the battery under the hood (usually),remove the meter head and put it where I can see it while I lay inside the vehicle floorboard checking voltage drops across fuses with my Fluke 88V until I find the suspect circuit in the central junction box , then pull the suspect fuse and watch the current draw reading on the 233 display to see if falls below 50ma. No more up and down to read the meter over and over again. Thank you FLUKE!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great versatility I love that this meter can be conveniently read with a back light for difficult to see areas.also this meters versatility to hook multiple accessories to measure all of my amperage and voltage measurement needs and get true amperage by removing head buttoning up the system and getting an actual non manipulated amp reading this is by far my favorite fluke tool to date! Kerri up the good work!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, Fast, Accurate I have had this meter for about 6 months. no problems at all and the wireless display is great. The price was a bit more than i wanted to spend but it was worth it the first time i used it for parasitic draw

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best meter idea evero Fluke's idea to make the display portable has takien all the struggle out of using multimeters independently. No longer do I have to have some else watch the meter while I work switches or controls, it saves so much time and frustration. The kit comes with everything you will ever need in most auto, marine, aviation and other fields that make our jobs so much easier. The magnetic strap is especially helpful and very strong. You just cannot get the quality or satisfaction from other brands
