Can this be used for detection of voltages in a three phase cable? If yes , what are the chances of false negative since the voltages inside the three phase cable tend to cancel each other?
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dr Keith from Fluke volt pens i trust Fluke equipment to be and stay accurate and reliable. Quality may cost a bit more but is worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jimmy from Simply works as should Works as advertised. Very happy with the purchase. I used to have the Klein version but it died on me within a month and wouldn't even work even with new batteries. I've been through many different types of hot-sticks so far and Fluke is easily the best, have yet to have any problems with fluke hot-sticks. So far this model has been hands down the best. Glad I listened to all the veteran electricians out there when I asked around. It works as advertised, easy 5/5 from me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ampdraw from Quick and dirty I carry one of these in my shirt pocket, it's the first thing I grab for any type of electrical problems. I'll admit I don't trust it with my life even though I've never had a false negative, only the occasional false positive from it (usualy due to motor/microwave/high voltage circuits with loaded capacitors, which do still present a safety risk, but can falsely imply you have power even when you don't). I'll still put a real meter and even short to ground before I go sticking my hands in anything. This does however tell you very quickly if the problem is in the device/equipment in question, or just no power getting to it, a real time saver. Its so simple to use even my 7 year old grabs it to test for power if the light or TV doesn't come on, or to confirm his rechargeable toys are getting power to them. Something not working? Just hold the tip near the power cord, its literally that easy to use, confirms right away if you're getting power to it or not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jrc45auto from Handy This is a much used little devise.
Works great, visual & sound when live wire is detected.
Thru wires without having to puncture with meter & probes.
Just get it close to current & it'll pick it up.
