Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is a barebone scope; expect to pay a lot more The scope screen is mediocre at best. Very grainy. The scope comes without a case in a styrofoam box. Separate case cost $250 The FlukeView Software comes as a DEMO. Actual SW cost is about $270

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Useful for Industrial Work We have a Fluke Scopemeter that is used to diagnose various machine failures in an Industrial facility. This meter has saved thousands of dollars in lost time, material and wasted repair parts. Very useful for drive (AC or DC) repair and diagnosis. It is also easy to use and easy to learn for those without O-scope experience. I highly recommend this for Industrial Electronics repair work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not very functional The models currently available and being made are different than the documentation available on the fluke web site, so I am was not even sure what I was ordering. At some point they switched from optical cable to a usb cable for remote control, but didn't update any of the documentation. The software that came with my scope did not list my scope as being compatible with the software. The manuals also covered the old optical cable and didn't cover the newer usb hardwired cable. The flukeview software hangs for 10 to 30 seconds in response to simple mouse clicks. The remote control feature does not work at all, and I don't know if there is a problem or if it is incompatible to the new model.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Old dog in a new suit The Fluke Scopemeteres are famous and rightly so. High quality build with great features. But now the future has surpassed the current 190 series II. The scope works more or less as their older models. Nothing new really. Battery capacity has improved and weather sealing is better. And they have introduced a 4 channel scope version without DMM function. But the rest of the instrument is stuck in the past. Screen has just about 0 viewing angle and low resolution. It is absolutely not viewable in sunlight at all and has not got very good contrast. My old B/W Scopemeter 124 is so much more usable outside. Scope and DMM can't be used at the same time. And if you need to record - you can again not use DMM and Scope recording features at the same time. And then there is Fluke View. Connection now is with USB - which is much better than the old "IR" Serial/USB. But Fluke View still looks like it is made for Windows 3.1 - and stuck in the past. So in short - if you want a Fluke Scopemeter - there is no reason to get the Series 2 unless you need the 4 channel scope version. If you are looking at 2 scope channels and DMM - any older Scopemeter will serve you just as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A performance scope in a portable package This is my first digital scope, switching from a 1995 analog 100MHZ Tek. I'm dealing primarily with electronics and automation systems and the two main reasons for this purchase are portability and the isolated floating inputs, allowing me to measure line voltage and make basic quality measurements in conjunction with a current probe, a nice added bonus without requiring a diff. probe. The scope has lived up to my expectations for the aforementioned applications, however I found it's LCD panel to be difficult to read under various angles, and slow in response (it's actual refresh rate and not the waveform update rate). It reminded me of older generation passive LCD displays and I expected something better. Moreover it's resolution is relatively low (1/2 VGA) and the pixels are large enough to be very easily visible. I guess Fluke compromised on the display for power saving and/or ruggedness reasons. The multimeter (I have the 190-202) is decent although capacitance measurements and direct thermocouple inputs would be nice. The trendplotting function is excellent and provides live graphing (a feature that is missing from my 289). To conclude, this scope has already replaced my bench scope and apart from it's LCD it's an excellent instrument.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use. Packed with features. Outstanding software. My first Fluke DSO was the 2-channel monochorme 50 MHz 99 that I still have for home use. It was an outstanding scope when introduced more than 15 years ago and the only thing I've replaced is the batteries. The 190 Series II is even better with its' greater bandwidth, improved software, larger screen, and the color display makes it even easier to identify traces. I've used it to diagnose steam turbine speed probe problems, power supply noise, VFD's, capture data bus echoes, switch chatter, and so on. I've also used it as a teaching tool. Most techs are intimidated by oscilloscopes, not wanting to "look stupid", but when I show them that all you've got to do is hook it up to the signal source and press the auto setup to display a perfectly scaled trace, they usually relax and become interested. Then I introduce them to the rest of the features, one at a time, and they're hooked. It's an impressive instrument.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I used this scopemeter on a project that requires the monitoring of many test points at the same time. The scopemeter has the ability to do this for four different signals at different voltage levels, This is a great help and can simplify the test setup. It is great to be able to switch from the scopemeter to scope mode with the press of a button. I am looking forward to useing it on future projects.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 196C Set: solid product We bought a new 196C Color 2 channel Scope-meter. It works as advertised. Good performance. Software allows pc screen shots, though limited internal memory does not allow much.
