Rated 4 out of 5 by from Out of box tips I thought I'd share my experience with these after my TO raved about them. They arrived in the untightened position which means that if you use them straight away without tightening the adjustment knob, the tip pushes back into the body when probling. This seems like a "game-over" situation at first but the long tip seems to be directly coupled to the flex cable which means in the untightened state you can push the cable to free the tip from the body. I have slightly damaged one tip by trying to pull it free with pliers, this is definitely the wrong way to do it. I would suggest Fluke ship these in a tightened and extended position and placesome guidance in the datasheet as to how to retrieve the probes once they have descended into the body. I may place a further review when I have used them more extensively. Why does this review portal make me place ratings on things I cannot possibly know yet?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mine are a dud Tips don't stay extended. Readings bounce all over the place. Did not come with directions.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from no instructions, not what i expected just got these. of course i had to pay for them before i saw them in person. very disappointed. No instructions what so ever. Do i just pull them out? is there a way to twist them out? Why are they so difficult to pull out? Cant read reviews for this product on this site so i doubt anyone will see this one. But very irritated with fluke

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The retractable lead is very useful in confined places. I have been using the Fluke retractable test leads for over 25 years in repairing consumer electronics. Other leads that have flanges do not allow you to get around components. With the needle point tips you can probe the smallest of SMD components.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good leads, but quality control isn't there lately I use these leads 90% of the time as a Biomedical Technician. They are great leads but quality control has been bad lately. The last two sets I purchased from Newark wouldn't extend right out of the box. The issue is with the sliding washer concealed under the plastic housing. The last two defective sets have had a gap between the wire insulation and the crimp, allowing the washer to stick and preventing the lead from extending. This can be resolved by filling the gap or shortening the lead. However, at $40 a set, one shouldn't have to. Please fix this Fluke. The solution is stated above. Thanks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from TL40 cables break easily These leads work well and are essential for any engineer testing 0402,0603 size components. However, they will break, usually just a the probe or connector end, giving false readings. this usually happens after 6-9 months of good service, but false readings can "throw you for a loop" in testing and design before you realize where the problem really is. Fortunately, customer service will replace immediately. Just don't loose your purchase information. - good work fluke! (really)
